Your first lash appointment: how to prepare and what to expect

Alina · Certified lash artist, Warsaw

Booking your lashes for the first time and feeling a little nervous? That's completely normal, and I hear it at every first appointment. The good news is that the prep on your side is genuinely simple, and the treatment itself is just two hours of lying down in peace. Let me walk you through all of it so you arrive knowing what to expect.

How to prepare before the appointment

A few small things that genuinely make the work easier and the result better:

  • Come however suits you. If you're wearing eye makeup, no problem, I'll gently remove it before we start. One small request: skip waterproof mascara the day before, because it's the hardest to remove.
  • Pause lash serums and conditioners about a week before. They can leave a film on the lash that the adhesive grips less well.
  • Think about your contact lenses. You'll lie with your eyes closed for over two hours, so either bring a case for your lenses or come in your glasses.
  • Skip coffee right before, if you can. Relaxed eyelids really do make precise work easier.

And one more thing: if you know you're allergic to strong adhesives, or you're pregnant, tell me when you book. It doesn't rule the treatment out, but it lets me adjust my approach and set realistic expectations.

What to think about beforehand

The most useful thing is a conversation about how you want to look. You don't need to know the technical names. Just show me on your phone what you like, and I'll translate it into the length, thickness and curl matched to your eye. If you want to read up first, I have a separate piece on how lashes are matched to your eye shape, and a guide to the methods: classic, volume or mega.

What the appointment itself looks like, step by step

  1. Consultation. We talk first. I look at your eye shape and set, the condition of your natural lashes, and ask about your lifestyle and how you want to look every morning. Only then do I suggest a method and a look.
  2. Getting comfortable. You lie down on the memory-foam bed, I secure your lower lashes, and you close your eyes. From that point you simply rest.
  3. Application. I work lash by lash, isolating each natural one and placing an extension or a fan on it. That takes about 2–2.5 hours. Many clients fall asleep, and that's great.
  4. Reveal and aftercare. At the end we sit up, you see the result in the mirror, and I explain exactly how to care for the lashes over the first few days.

Sometimes, as the adhesive cures, you'll feel a slight warmth near the lash line. That's normal and doesn't hurt. The rest is just calm lying down with your eyes closed.

Right after you leave the studio

The first hours decide how long the set lasts. With standard adhesive, keep water, steam and sweat away from the eyes for 12 hours; with the LED lamp it's only about 2 hours. You'll find the full routine for the first days and beyond in the lash aftercare guide, but don't worry, I'll go through it all with you in person after the treatment.

How long it takes and what it costs

A full application takes about 2–2.5 hours. Classic 1:1 is 180 PLN, volume 2D-3D is 200 PLN, and mega volume 4D-5D is 220 PLN, always on certified premium materials. If you don't know which method to choose, don't worry, that's what the consultation is for, and we'll pick it together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to arrive with no makeup?
You don't have to. Most clients come with makeup on, and I simply remove it before we start, it's no problem. If you'd like to speed things up a little you can come with clean eyes, but it isn't required. One small request: if you can, skip waterproof mascara the day before, because it's the hardest to remove.
Can I come in contact lenses?
Better to take them out for the treatment, because you lie with your eyes closed for over two hours and lenses can get uncomfortable. Bring a case and solution, or simply come in your glasses.
How long does the first appointment take?
A full application is about 2–2.5 hours, whatever the method. Set that time aside calmly, without rushing to a next meeting, so nothing stresses you.
Can I fall asleep during the treatment?
Absolutely, and many clients do. You lie comfortably on the memory-foam bed, eyes closed, in peace. Sleeping doesn't get in the way at all; relaxed eyelids actually make my work easier.
